When side effects are hard to tolerate, the dose is reduced stepwise to 400 mg once daily or 400 mg every other day. A 60-tablet box lasts about 15 days at the standard dose.

Side Effects

Common side effects include hand-foot skin reaction, diarrhoea, fatigue, rash, nausea, high blood pressure and hair thinning. Less common but serious effects are liver toxicity, bleeding, heart problems and gastrointestinal perforation. Blood pressure, liver function and blood counts are monitored regularly, and severe symptoms should be reported immediately.
