Generic Information: LuciEver (Everolimus) — Laos Generic

LuciEver is a generic everolimus manufactured by Lucius Pharmaceuticals (Lao) Co., Ltd., a GMP-certified producer based in Vientiane, Laos. This page covers two strengths — 5 mg and 10 mg — each in a 30-tablet pack, giving patients flexibility to titrate their dose. LuciEver delivers the same mTOR inhibitor mechanism as the originator Afinitor at a fraction of the cost, making it a widely used option for patients in regions where originator everolimus is unaffordable or difficult to access. The dual-strength offering is especially practical because everolimus dosing often requires adjustment based on liver function and blood concentration.

What Is LuciEver (Everolimus) Used For?

LuciEver is used for the same conditions as originator everolimus: advanced renal cell carcinoma after failure of sunitinib or sorafenib, progressive pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, non-functional gastrointestinal or lung neuroendocrine tumors, and tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC)-associated lesions including renal angiomyolipoma and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma. It is also used in combination with exemestane for hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer.

How Does LuciEver (Everolimus) Work?

LuciEver contains everolimus, which binds the intracellular protein FKBP-12 and inhibits mTORC1. This suppresses the downstream signaling that drives tumor cell growth, protein synthesis, and new blood vessel formation. By blocking the mTOR pathway that is frequently overactive in renal and neuroendocrine cancers, LuciEver slows disease progression in the same way as the originator.

Indications

LuciEver is indicated for: (1) advanced renal cell carcinoma after sunitinib or sorafenib; (2) progressive pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors; (3) progressive, well-differentiated, non-functional GI or lung neuroendocrine tumors; (4) TSC-associated renal angiomyolipoma; (5) TSC-associated SEGA; and (6) hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer combined with exemestane.

Dosage

The standard dose is 10 mg once daily, taken with or without food at the same time each day. The 5 mg strength is used for dose reduction in patients with hepatic impairment or interacting medications. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water and not crushed or chewed.

Side Effects

Common side effects include stomatitis (mouth ulcers), rash, fatigue, diarrhea, infections, and metabolic changes such as elevated blood sugar and cholesterol. More serious but rare events include non-infectious pneumonitis, kidney dysfunction, and delayed wound healing. Patients should report persistent mouth sores, new cough, or breathlessness to their physician.

Storage

Store LuciEver in its original packaging at 20–25°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children. The manufacturer lists a shelf life of 24 months; do not use after expiry.

Why Choose the GLT?

LuciEver offers patients a genuinely affordable route to everolimus therapy. Compared with the originator Afinitor, whose Western list price can reach several thousand dollars per month, generic everolimus from a GMP-certified Laos manufacturer such as Lucius is priced far lower — a difference of an order of magnitude in many markets. As a Hong Kong-licensed supplier, GLT verifies the batch documentation and supply chain for every LuciEver shipment, so patients and institutions receive a quality generic at a cost that makes long-term treatment sustainable.
