Product description

Generic Information: Acalanib (Acalabrutinib) 100mg — Bangladesh

Acalanib is a Bangladesh-manufactured generic of acalabrutinib produced by Drug International Limited (DIL), one of Bangladesh's established pharmaceutical manufacturers. It is supplied as 100 mg capsules in a 60-capsule pack, matching the standard strength and twice-daily regimen of the originator. Acalanib is DIL's acalabrutinib brand for the B-cell blood cancers treated by this BTK inhibitor.

Bangladesh has a mature generic pharmaceutical industry that supplies a large share of the developing world's oncology medicines, and DIL is a recognised name within it. Because acalabrutinib is taken continuously at 100 mg twice daily, buyers should account for the capsule count when planning a monthly supply.

What Is Acalanib Used For?

Acalanib is used for the same indications as the originator: mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) in patients who have received at least one prior therapy, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). It delivers the same BTK inhibition as acalabrutinib, offering a more affordable route for patients in regions where the originator is prohibitively priced.

How Does Acalanib Work?

Acalabrutinib, the active ingredient in Acalanib, is a covalent inhibitor of Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK). It binds irreversibly to the enzyme's active site, blocking the B-cell receptor signalling that malignant B cells rely on for survival and growth. This suppresses the cancerous B-cell population in MCL, CLL and SLL.

Indications

  • Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) after at least one prior therapy.
  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL).

Dosage and Administration

The recommended dose is 100 mg twice daily, about every 12 hours. Capsules are swallowed whole with water, with or without food. Treatment continues until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity, and regular blood-count monitoring is required because of the risk of cytopenias.

Side Effects

Common side effects include upper respiratory tract infection, diarrhoea, headache, fatigue, nausea and musculoskeletal pain. More serious risks include bleeding, serious infections, neutropenia and anaemia, second primary cancers, atrial fibrillation and liver injury. Patients should report unusual bleeding, palpitations or signs of infection promptly.

Storage

Store Acalanib below 30°C in the original pack, protected from moisture and out of the reach of children. Use before the expiry date printed on the pack.

Why Choose the GLT?

GLT verifies each Acalanib batch against DIL's manufacturing documentation and provides a transparent supply route for Bangladesh generics. Bangladesh-made acalabrutinib is typically priced at a small fraction of the originator's US list price, making long-term BTK-inhibitor therapy far more sustainable for patients and institutions. We provide purchase documentation and direct contact for support.
