Generic Information: Osicent (Osimertinib) 80mg — Bangladesh
Osicent is the osimertinib generic made by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in Bangladesh by volume. Supplied as 80 mg film-coated tablets in a 30-tablet pack, Osicent matches the originator's standard strength and is one of the recognised Bangladeshi osimertinib brands alongside Everest's Osimert and Beacon's Tagrix. Incepta's scale and export reach mean Osicent is widely available across South Asia and in export markets.
For buyers, Osicent represents a cost-effective generic whose manufacturer is well established, which can simplify verification and ongoing supply. The active ingredient and dose are identical to the originator Tagrisso.
What Is Osicent Used For?
Osicent treats EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer across first-line, adjuvant and T790M-positive settings. It is used first-line for advanced disease with EGFR sensitising mutations, after surgery in eligible early-stage patients, and after resistance to a first- or second-generation EGFR TKI when the T790M mutation is present. Its CNS activity supports use in brain-metastatic disease.
How Does Osicent Work?
Osimertinib, the active ingredient in Osicent, is an irreversible mutant-selective EGFR inhibitor. It covalently binds EGFR bearing exon 19 deletions, L858R mutations and T790M, blocking tumour-growth signalling while sparing wild-type EGFR. This mechanism accounts for both its broad efficacy and its generally milder rash and diarrhoea.
Indications
- First-line advanced EGFR-mutant NSCLC.
- Adjuvant treatment after resection of EGFR-mutant NSCLC.
- T790M-positive NSCLC after prior EGFR-TKI therapy.
Dosage and Administration
The dose is 80 mg once daily, with or without food, swallowed whole. A missed dose beyond 12 hours is skipped. The dose may be reduced to 40 mg daily to manage side effects, and therapy continues until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
Side Effects
Common side effects are diarrhoea, rash, dry skin, nail changes, stomatitis and fatigue. Interstitial lung disease, QT prolongation and cardiomyopathy are rare but serious; patients should report new respiratory symptoms or palpitations and receive routine cardiac and liver monitoring.
Storage
Store Osicent below 30°C, in the original package, in a dry place, out of children's reach. Do not use after the expiry date.
