Revolade must be taken on an empty stomach — at least one hour before or two hours after a meal — and separated by at least two hours from dairy products and mineral supplements containing calcium, iron, magnesium, aluminium, selenium or zinc, which markedly reduce absorption.

Side Effects

The most common adverse reactions include headache, nausea, diarrhoea, fatigue, muscle aches and upper respiratory symptoms. More serious but less common effects require monitoring: hepatotoxicity (liver enzymes must be checked before and during treatment), thromboembolic events, and cataract formation. Patients should have regular platelet counts and liver function tests while on therapy.
